Target Market Determination

Target Market Determination

This page contains general information on Target Market Determinations (TMDs). It also contains specific information relating to TMDs for our  products.

What is a target market determination?

A Target Market Determination is a document which describes the class of customers for whom the product is appropriate (target market), and any conditions as to how the product can be distributed to customers.

It also describes the events or circumstances where the Target Market Determination may need to be reviewed and the kind of information that needs to be provided by distributors to product issuers.

These new obligations are designed to assist customers to obtain appropriate financial products by requiring product issuers and distributors to have a more customer centric approach to the design and distribution of products.
