Simon Swanson B.EC, B.Bus, ANZIIF (Fellow), CIP, CPA – Managing Director
Simon is one of Australia’s most skilled and experienced insurance executives having worked for 30 years across life insurance, funds management, general insurance and health insurance. He has successfully led the largest life insurer (CommInsure, Sovereign and Colonial) in three countries and has spent half of his career in the Asia Pacific region. Apart from running large insurance companies, he has also successfully started a broad range of businesses covering life insurance, health insurance and funds management. Simon was appointed as Managing Director on 26 March 2010.
Barry Odes – Chief Operating Officer
Barry was appointed to the newly created role of COO on 18 January 2012. He is accountable for Distribution, Marketing, Financial Planning, Operations, Human Resources and Information Technology. Before joining ClearView Barry was Managing Director of CMC Markets for Australia and New Zealand. He also held senior executive positions at Goldman Sachs/JB Were, the last of which was Chief Operating Officer of their Private Wealth Division. Barry has deep knowledge and experience in Wealth Management.
Athol Chiert B.Com, B.Acc, CA (SA) – Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary
Athol was appointed CFO and Company Secretary on 4 November 2008. Athol was previously the CFO of PrefSure Holdings Limited and PrefSure Life Limited (formerly Lumley Life Limited). Athol also has a private equity background as part of the Global Capital Group both in Australia and South Africa and over 12 years experience in the finance industry. Athol commenced his professional career as an accountant with Arthur Andersen.
Clive Levinthal FIAA, FASSA, FIA (UK), CFA – Head of Products and Underwriting
Prior to joining ClearView on 19 July 2010, Clive was General Manager, Product Management at CommInsure, where he had responsibility for products covering life insurance, general insurance and a wide range of superannuation and investment products. Clive has held various senior management positions at CommInsure and internationally over the past 15 years.
Greg Martin BA, FIAA, FFin, FAICD – Chief Actuary and Risk Officer
Greg Martin has more than 25 years experience advising financial institutions on actuarial and related matters, and was formerly a Director of KPMG Actuaries’ Australian practice. Greg has also held a number of Appointed Actuary roles. He is a Past President of the Institute of Actuaries Australia (IAA) , a previous member of the Life Insurance Actuarial Standards Board and a member of multiple committees of the IAA. Greg was initially hired as the Appointed Actuary on 5 July 2010 and was appointed Chief Actuary effective 1 March 2011.
Justin McLaughlin B.Eco Hons – Chief Investment Officer
Justin has 20 years experience in financial markets and has held a range of investment, strategy and research roles in large superannuation funds, insurance companies and financial planning businesses.
Chris Robson BA (Hons), LLB, LLM – General Counsel and Company Secretary
Chris has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry and joined ClearView on 4 April 2011. For the previous seven years, Chris was General Counsel and Group Company Secretary for Challenger Limited (formerly Challenger Financial Services Group Limited). Before that, he was Head of Legal, Risk Management and Compliance at Barclays Global Investors Australia Limited. Chris has also held legal roles at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the Australian Securities and Investment Commission and the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department. He is a member of the Law Society of NSW and the Society of Notaries of NSW.
